Hot Thermal Insulation

We develop, install and maintain specific hot thermal insulation systems to protect installations and avoid energy losses over time. Our engineering department studies the conditions for installation, develops project-specific solutions and recommends the appropriate materials for your project. Then, our operational teams install your selected insulation materials (options include fibrous, cellular, agglomerate, elastomeric, aerogels and mattresses) associated mechanical protection (from aluminium to type-316 stainless steel) and non-metallic protection (elastomers, polyester, PVC, coated fabrics) as required.

Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI)

SMS Services is an expert in CUI technology. We have developed advanced methodologies to assist our customers in identifying areas where CUI is likely to occur. And, as experienced insulation and anti-corrosion specialists, we are proficient in detecting the causes of water ingress into or under all types of insulation systems. Our engineers can carry out thermographic inspections to detect CUI (without the assets having to be taken out of operation). During the initial engineering phase of asset development and when planning inspection routines, we evaluate your potential risks of CUI and design sustainable solutions to avoid its consequences in the long run.

If CUI is identified as an issue requiring intervention at your site, our personnel can execute all operations from simple maintenance to complete insulation removal, steel repair/treatment and insulation replacement to solve the problem for you.

Rope Access work enables challenging jobs to be completed in typically hard-to-access areas. Performed by trained specialists, it uses climbing and caving techniques to solve complex problems. Confined spaces can be extremely hazardous. SMS Group offers Confined Space Management services to assist clients in guaranteeing the protection of staff working in confined spaces. All members of our confined space team are fully trained, qualified and experienced in all aspects of confined space management. We offer assistance with risk management, permit compliance, monitoring, maintenance, first aid and rescue procedures, support personnel, PPE, equipment and gas testing for confined spaces.
