SMS Group Services began work on Ravensthorpe Mine Site in 2005 when it was still owned by BHP Billiton. For SMS, this became an exemplary project, emphasising our ability to mount an extensive effort at a distance, delivering robust and reliable service to the major multinational.
SMS provided maintenance services as the project moved to commissioning and production in 2007 and did so until the site closure in 2009. While this marked the end for BHP at Ravensthorpe, it was far from the end for SMS. In 2011 we again were contracted at Ravensthorpe by its’ new owner, First Quantum Minerals, to supply maintenance and shutdown scaffolding services to the mine.
Time and time again, SMS have delivered safe and cost-effective scaffolding services to RNO. We have fulfilled labour requirements for both maintenance and shutdown work, with a steady retention rate and excellent client feedback.
SMS has enjoyed an enduring connection with this project from its inception, right up to the current day; a partnership that has proved a welcome source of employment and revenue, through both good and bad times. We have recently been re-awarded a contract extension until September 2023.
