Ongoing scaffolding and labour with the Fremantle Port Authority

Background
In 2018, SMS Group Services was awarded a 3-year renewable maintenance contract for scaffolding equipment and labour supply with the Fremantle Port including Kwinana Bulk Terminal and Kwinana Bulk Jetty.

Solution
As of June 2019 there have been 300 tonnes of scaffolding equipment and up to 25 SMS Group Services personnel on site. The site team includes scaffolding supervision and scaffolding crews as well as admin staff, safety advisors and yard personnel supporting the operation on an ad-hoc basis.

The objective of the contract was to deliver cost-effective solutions that would support the short-and-long-term business objectives of the Fremantle Port Authority. SMS Group Services aligned perfectly with FPA objectives and as such, both groups were united in their aim to safely deliver projects on time, within budget and to a specified quality.

The SMS Group Services solution was to establish a scaffold lay-down yard onsite with a working stock of approximately 25T of Kwik-Stage and tube & clip scaffolding materials. Throughout the course of the project, minor work scopes will be identified and assessed for the optimal scaffolding solution.

Outcomes
The project is ongoing, so SMS Group Services and the Fremantle Port Authority anticipate we will continue to mobilise supplementary scaffolding equipment to the Kwinana laydown yard from the SMS Group Services Kwinana or Welshpool depots.

SMS Group Services is pleased to continue working on large-scale industrial projects like Fremantle Port and providing top-tier access management solutions!
