Karara Mining Limited
Whilst in the position of Maintenance Manager at the Karara Mine site from 2013 to 2018, SMS played a fundamental role in our integrated Maintenance Team. In 2011, SMS were awarded the access package for the supply of confined spacing equipment and personnel for the initial construction of the Karara Mining magnetite processing plant. They transitioned from construction into commissioning and in 2013 secured a 3-year operations and maintenance contract. This contract was renewed in 2016 and again in 2019. SMS were also awarded the Confined Space Management contract in 2016. SMS are key players in all Major Shutdowns at KML, supplying more than 120 personnel and 500 tonnes of equipment.
Throughout my dealings, I have found SMS to be very professional, client focused, and team orientated. Their positive attitude and problem solving supported by exemplary safety standards is reflected in their 9-year tenure as access providers at KML.
